We as consumers naturally assume that the safety and regulatory tests that products go through prior to reaching our shelves mean that they are safe for us to use. However, some do slip through the net. Every year consumers get injured through defective products which develop defects or were not initially fit for their purpose, and these consumers may be entitled to claim compensation for an injury caused.
In order to bring a successful claim it must be seen that the product is defective and that this defect caused an injury. This means that the manufacturer deemed strictly liable for their product. There is no need to show that the manufacturer/ producer was negligent in their manufacturing of the product. Manufacturing companies take out insurance to cover any such incidents and it will be these insurance companies that pay any compensation obtained.
